Q&A: UW researchers examine mental impact of Girl Scouts’ interactions with nature
New research from the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÆØºÚÁÏ2024, recently published in the Journal of Environmental Education, examined whether children’s interactions with nature that are embodied, rather than just visual, are associated with feeling connected to something beyond the self. Exploratory analyses found that participants who had embodied interactions reported a greater sense of presence in nature than those who reported only visual interactions.

The UW's RIDE program trains dentists to treat patients from rural and underserved communities. More than 80% of graduates go on to work in dental offices in small towns and communities. RIDE students study dentistry in Spokane and Seattle, as well as hands-on training in clinics in rural towns across ³Ô¹ÏÍøÆØºÚÁÏ2024.
